I really hope they get a new pizza vendor. The last few times I had a slice at the Dome it was as thin as cardboard and tasted stale. It would be nice if they get a vendor that specializes in selling by the slice like Freshslice

yah i dont see that happening, imo. Certainly on the booze side more opportunity, as @Mountain Man said. Alcohol is very easy to replicate and produce. Food is very hard. Chains likely wont adjust their pricing to give the arena its share....and I cant think of much in the way of local "fast food" that people would flock to? Even Peter's is made to order, that cant happen in an arena
I wonder if they can have overlapping restaurant as the food hall? So the food hall would have the full menu and do the food prep, and certain items are available at the concessions and only the last step is done at the concessions.

The food hall doesn't really have the kitchen space for that, nor is it set up for that.

Pizza 73 is not good, and it’s even worse at the Dome. It’s so bad it’s almost good that the slices keep getting smaller. I’d definitely support replacing them with a different chain (if it can’t be local).

There isn’t any food I’d want them to keep from the Dome outside of the pocket dog (which isn’t really my favourite and I’d like to see an alternative, but I appreciate the nostalgia and would want pocket dogs to carry on), the Foothills Creamery malt icecream, and the Banded Peak beer (although I’d support having more local brews on tap).

Would love to see a local burger joint like Lil’ Empire, who could also serve up your alternative hotdog option to the pocket dogs.

I think that one of the local BBQ chains (e.g., the “Blocks”) could easily do a bacon/pulled pork/brisket Mac and Cheese.

The Dome currently sells churros, but I think a much more Calgary thing would be to sell fresh mini doughnuts (they don’t need to be exclusive to the Stampede).

Instead of the bland, frozen chicken fingers, put something like a “Strip Joint” in the arena (or have both).

Can you even get a poutine in the Dome? Get Leopolds Tavern in there (I know it didn’t originate here).

They serve Caesars at the Dome. Why not ginger beef with rice? I don’t have a recommended locale for this.

The popcorn at the Dome is not good. I’m not saying get rid of the popcorn, but give me another option. I don’t even think you can buy a bag of chips at the Dome. Something I saw in Spain was vendors selling fresh chips (patatas fritas). I think that would be a great addition.

I also think a grilled cheese would be an easy food item that could be done by a number of local places. Alumni would be my choice, even though I don’t think they even do a grilled cheese and I’d want their full menu to be available but that’d be unrealistic. Holy Grill would be another contender for me.

"How about this. You give me (a strip joint) and I convert your concessions to all chicken, no charge! Instead of hotdogs, chicken dogs! Instead of pretzels, chicken twists! Instead of beer, alcoholic chicken!"
