How can anyone not know the state of the rental market?
It's on the news every day, including a recent article about Calgary experiencing the highest rent increases in the country.
Rents in many cases have doubled in the last 2-3 years.
The evidence is right here - 3000 a month for 940...
Imagine thinking people paying 2500+ a month for rent are "poor".
It's the same people who decry row housing being built in established neighborhoods when the units are selling for 650k+.
Slums indeed.
Rent up an average of 25% in Calgary, demand higher than ever, vacancy rates under 2% but there are many projects on hold.
Are there different interest rates in other cities?
The problem with Calgary is that 80% of the people who live here don't see that (Metrotown ) as a good thing.
I remember distinctly the uproar about the Anderson station project where anyone living in a 100km radius came out of the woodwork to scream about parking, density, and "character"...
