I'm currently in the West End of Vancouver staying with friends and there's ugly buildings everywhere - but the street scape/public realm, foliage and trees, walkability, smattering of very nice buildings all create an urban fabric wherein you don't ever really focus on single ugly buildings...

I just listened to a group of under 40 detached home owners complain about infillls, multi family, and high rise construction and the ills of density. It's like a virus that comes with owning a detached home.

I live in the beltline and the number of families with young children has skyrocketed from my observations just walking around everyday.

You mean the citizens of Calgary right? Can't even build a bike lane in this city without the locals losing their minds.

Lots of fences up but not much happening.

The other fencing is directly south of this around an already existing building that Google maps has labeled Mission Square Apartments.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but there's blue fencing up around the buildings on 8th Street and 13th Avenue SW both the NE and SE corners.

The esthetic of this side of the development reflects very well the freeway that runs in front of it.

Imagine thinking people paying 2500+ a month for rent are "poor". It's the same people who decry row housing being built in established neighborhoods when the units are selling for 650k+. Slums indeed.
