    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Seems like the easy thing to do is wait for that third and final payment then repeal rezoning. I personally support rezoning, but agree with councilors it should tie to units built and overall affordability rather than specific policies. A city could simply pass rezoning and put up some other...

That would be multi billion dollar investments with a very uncertain return. There's plenty of developable land there without spending billions to bury a highway.

Saw this on Certus' website. Redevelopment of an old car service garage to street oriented retail. https://www.certusdevelopments.com/coming-soon#/1005-centre-street-cs/

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

From the redevelopment of UD, there's clearly lots of untapped potential in this area if it's done right with proper planning. Research Park is just getting started and will be a longer build out since it's tied to the University/not residential. North Hill mall has the contamination problem...

    General Construction Updates

At least this one has a planned end date. I mean it is just a grass field. Construction of the temporary green space will begin in October 2025, with anticipated completion and availability to the public in spring 2026.

    Alberta Provincial Politics

It's probably a process thing but it's a bit odd to have to go to the government to fund a recall against... the government. Regardless of who the recall is against, there should be contingency reserved for this so it's not a political decision.

Vancouver swaps all their tires for winter? I guess Calgary could do it with more funding, but it's surprising that is needed for the few snow days in Vancouver.

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

I think it's a drive thru only location or with extremely limited seating. And I hope we don't get long drive through lines that spill onto Memorial.

    Calgary International Airport

ICN is probably going year round. With Korean taking a stake, they're probably getting better loads with transfers to other Asian destinations.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

And the driveway closest in the picture looks to be new? Why did they not put in the new style driveways that are much flatter in the sidewalk portion and only curves at the end. They redid 19th street (a very small portion so far) and while the people living there are complaining about the...

They started the switch to all-weather tires, wonder how many of the ones stuck/crashed today were all-season (in name only) vs all-weather

There's been talks of replacing the Saddledome for almost 2 decades. If it was expected to last much longer, I would think they would've redid the entrance area to have an entertainment square.

    Calgary Transit

Agreed its good for a transit agency to try things that may or may not work. I don't doubt that when they look at ridership and capacity on a spreadsheet, 2 cars were enough. The issue is the headway is not perfect. Sometimes you get two trains that are close and a gap to the third. In those...

    Calgary Transit

The main problem they had with this seems to be the lack of "normal" weekends. They plan to run 2 car train, but there's a Flames game, concert, event, etc. that half the time it's not even 2 cars on weekends.

    Calgary Transit

Wonder who else responded to the RFI/RFP in 2022. TD has some bank wide restructuring happening so it may not be that the sponsorship is performing poorly.
