It would be more expensive to make panels and coordinate installation of panels with the mural printed on them.

Fair enough, but what else could be changed for the same cost? We’re basically talking about changing the color of the panels. I’d personally prefer white or cream over the gray or add accent colors but it’s not really a big improvement. Not a big enough improvement to please the critics.

If this was on a main retail corridor then yes, I’d push for better, but sometimes we need to pick our battles. The previous use of land was a waste of inner city space. A patch of grass with 2 trees, and now it’s 65 units with retail in a parcel butted up against an in-ramp. It’s it’s highly...

    Trees in Calgary

The soil is actually a bit worse on the east side of the city. Years back my science teacher who was also a horticulturalist mentioned that the soils west of the Bow and Elbow were generally better. Can’t remember the exact reason for it, but might have been due to soil slowly moving east but...

    Alberta Pension Plan

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the idea. Quebec had their own and people their seem fine with it. What Alberta can pull out of the current CPP is a different matter. Even if Alberta gets their rightful share which is less than what Smith thinks it is, it still might be doable...

I drive past there yesterday and there was lots of machinery in action. Looked like a big concrete pour was happening.

West village is a good location for people living in the towers, it’s handy to a lot of things, but it sucks for retail, 9th Avenue is a waste land.

That is probably the case, so it’s good they made the roads wide because they will eventually need to retrofit a cycle lane. I can see a lot of people cycling between University, District and the University. Not just people from University District, but people from the neighbourhoods across...

The white spots that were sit down restos with wait staff sold burgers with the Triple O sauce 👍 they were like the fast food triple O burgers, but a bit bigger.

When you look at that photo, the cars look as if they are 5 feet away. There will be some car noise for sure.

    Infill Development Discussion

That part that bothers me most about Chinook is the space between the mall and the LRT. It should be the densest of all the area around Chinook, but it’s the least dense , being mostly surface parking. At some point I gotta believe that somebody is going to develop it. I just hope to see it in...
