Been going on for years - it’s obvious improvements to McMahon (and the fieldhouse) are not high on the City priority list.

I’ve always hoped with the number of really wealthy people in this city at least a few of them were CFL fans (& proud Calgarians) that they would step up and fund a new stadium.
This is my understanding as well - at least when it was initially constructed. The strategy may have changed since.
Chumir is classified as an “office” use (think professional building) not as a “care” facility (think hospital).
No overnight stays are permitted at Chumir.
In short, I don’t like it.
If the placeholders shown for the plaza and rejuvenation of the existing building are any indication of what will be done, I say leave it as it is (at least on the outside).
The new building is meh for me - the massing is unpleasant to my eye and, as someone else said...
But the City has already committed funding (over $100M). They are hoping for the Province and Feds to kick in.
Personally, I agree that an indoor 400m track capable of hosting certified track events during the winter would be more of a draw, but I’m certainly not an expert or part of the track...
