    Calgary Flames Official Thread

It's combination of the Flames not playing as poorly as they did in October and the fact that the rest of the league isn't that much better than the Flames are. Even after paying so well for two months they haven't actually climbed that high up the standings. Sorting by points percentage...

Yes, 2025 was the year of turning the page and seeing some progress on TOD. Which this sort of is.

The HAT at WAC. At least I think it is called the Werklund Arts Centre as of 2026.

    Infill Development Discussion

I your last photo, some infill is happening there along elbow. My in-laws live in that area and there are people who are trying to do a restrictive covenant. My in-laws are not going to sign-on, they're five years or less from selling, why box themselves and their prospective buyers in.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

It's not about out of sight, out of mind. It's about the best way to use the space and avoiding conflicts with major intersections. You do not want a train line that can be out run (literally a guy outran a new LRT in Ontario) end to end because of time delays at conflicts with major...

Who can answer the, who does floorplate matter here? From the City's perspective. I understand the developer wants to maximize their floorplate to have more square feet.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

There are also not the same underground issues in the north as downtown. Could do a cut and cover on Centre Street until north of 16th and then go under 41st Ave, McKnight, and 64th Ave. That would alleviate a lot of the conflict so many other lines have with cars because otherwise the Green...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Do we really think people would've been fine with a fully elevated line? It could've worked fine on what they're building now, including the downtown section but beyond that I cannot see people getting behind elevated along 52nd Street in the southeast and along Centre Street in the north...

I think there's some correlation between being well travelled and being interested in things like this forum. But maybe not.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

One of the windiest three block walks downtown I've had to the bus. I couldn't look up without being blinded by snow and wind blowing the snow in my eyes. Had to hold my hand up to my eyes and open my fingers to see. We get snow in Calgary and we get wind but I haven't been out in conditions...

Why does it work elsewhere? Most notably in Nordic countries. Do they just have the volume that allows the manufacturers to realize efficiencies? I assume they probably, because of their small size and political system, are able to realize the efficiencies because of an accepted collective...
