The podium isn't even the worst thing. It is the unfinished third tower... Cidex seems to have gone to sleep.
They're announcing new projects though like HAT Eau Claire (stupid name aside). Maybe leasing hasn't gone well in the other two towers? I thought getting a grocery store on the ground floor was going to spur some movement on Tower 3.

I heard through the grapevine that Cidex sort of overpromised on some of their previous projects, and so their lenders have lost some enthusiasm, which is why some of their larger projects haven't been moving forward. I'm betting there's a big cost difference between an office conversion (with a public subsidy) and a 45 storey tower.

I guess that makes sense, there's zero movement on the Elbow River complex. I imagine the hole requires some amount of maintenance and them not filling it up is at least an indication they want to finish it. If it's ever filled, it'll probably stay a parking lot for 10 years.

I'm wondering if Cidex is holding off on the third tower until they get through their office conversions? The office conversation are somewhat time limited as there may not be another round of funding for the conversions. Once the funding rounds are done, it'll be back to business as usual.
