Stampede Station | 277.3m | 70s | Truman | NORR

Well if you wanna fill that void there’s a brown van selling novelty towels with skulls and wolves etc. on them by the Mr. Sub on 16th.
I drive by that guy all the time....and I generally approve, apart from the suspiciously large amount of Oilers paraphernalia.

Btw, I love that Mr Sub building. Hope we can save it.

I think it'll be tallest in Alberta, and "one of the tallest" in Western Canada.

Now that the height has been released, it's confirmed that it will be taller than any building either completed or under construction. The only proposal I am aware of that would be taller is the supertall proposed for Vancouver, but I have doubts that project will happen anytime soon, if ever, considering the state of their condo market.

“Tallest outside of Toronto” !

Are these two buildings 100% a go?

Also when can we expect them to be completed?
You might also have to factor in appeals timelines. They are asking for a reduction to building separation distance and I can see Vetro and Sasso east facing owners being somewhat successful in pushing back on that. It appears as though the proposed facades are a zero setback which is fine, but even twin residential towers follow the minimum separation distances for light and privacy concerns, as well as general livability. If you look at Vancouver and even proposed towers here, many will offset with adjacent buildings to allay these concerns and provide better overall living conditions for everyone.

Maybe it’ll morph into an even taller tower with a greater setback from the west property line. But I can almost guarantee that unless Truman provides frosted windows, screening, and or amenity privileges in lieu to impacted neighbours this will likely not move forward exactly as shown.

Don’t get me wrong either, I love this proposal! But the professional planner in me knows better than to trust that there won’t be some negotiation as the impacts aren’t just to one or two neighbours, but vertical blocks of them (less so for Sasso).
