Movement on this one. No idea if it is the same project/proponent that started this thread, but the zoning application is in. Quantum Place Developments is the applicant:

Is Quantum Place an actual developer? Or they specialize in up zone and flips? I remember they had an application at the corner of 10 and Kensington which was nothing more than a zoning flip.

I think they are both a consultant and developer. They offer development management / planning consulting services to clients (they are for instance the lead contact for Canmore's 3 Sisters Village). They were not the owner, but rather the consultant, for the Kensington one you mentioned. But, they also do their own, smaller scale projects (typically row house / missing middle I think).

This land use application is going to CPC this week with a refusal recommentation. I haven't read the material in detail to know all of the reasons, but this paragraph seems to sum it up:
The proposed development, specifically the height and floor plate size, would cast prolongedshadows onto Humpy Hollow Park during key equinox hours and negatively impact theenjoyment and use of this amenity space. This is contrary to statutory planning policy in theWest Elbow Communities Local Area Plan (LAP) which seeks to minimize shadow impacts onparks and open space. Humpy Hollow Park was redesigned to be a passive, community-servingspace where solar access, comfort and social utility are prioritized. These characteristicsreinforce the need for careful application of shadow mitigation policies.

Discussion for 101 on 17th (FORMER location of Economy Glass).

I moved posts to a new thread because these were previously posted in the Stampede City Suites thread, which is a different project at 112 17 Ave SE (and the CURRENT location of Economy Glass).

Edit: Although I can see why those threads were mixed, as the old Stampede City Suites project was on this lot, 101 17 Ave SW. Maybe there was never a proposal at 112 17 Ave SE? Confusing

Why did the discussion for 101 on 17th get locked? 🤔

I've long hated the auto repair places on 17th, so excited to see them go!
Don't get too excited. Nothing seems to be coming of them. I actually wouldn't mind for this section of 17th to have the scale that it has had in recent applications. What needs to happen here is a bit more of the classic "eyes on the street" some people live in the area but more would really help the section of 17th from death row (the funeral homes) to Macleod. Having Brooklyn and Nest in the area helps but there needs to be more to support businesses that I'd like to see go in along 17th.
