Trinity Hills | 20m | 6s | Trinity Group

This is changing, just slowly. There is money in the recent budget to get moving on something at least.

This is Calgary, and really most cities. We're landlocked but our highways and river valley segment the city into islands. There's decent transit within islands and from the islands to downtown but otherwise it is tough to get around without a car.

I would nice if the city could implement a MAX service along 16th Ave out to COP. There could be station at Trinity Hills and COP similar to this:

The City could run the BRT down Bowness Road, Parkdale Blvd and Kensington road similar to this:

It would take a lot of political will as the residents would hate to see a blessed car lane being gobbled up.

I've been reading this thread since before buying a townhome in Trinity Hills almost 2 years ago and moving in, in the fall, so appreciate all the contributions so far. I haven't seen much discussion here from residents but a lot of opinions from people that just see lots of work and drive by the community.

I've lived in various parts of the city over 9 years in the city, including quite a bit of time downtown and this is hands down the most walkable community i've lived in, and has the best concentration of amenities (and most storefronts are still empty since there isn't enough people living here YET) - i think that will change drastically in the next 1-2 years when the condos and the rest of townhomes are completed. Access to a major untouched greenspace that I am currently looking at from my home office window is second only to maybe Fish Creek, but with a much better location.

Yes, the public transit is not well thought out but that shouldn't be a shock in Calgary, but being 1 minutes for 3 major highway arteries could not be better for anyone that works downtown (25-30 minute commute during rush hour), needs to get around the city for any reason, and loves a good mountain escape (Canmore is 45 min away).

I appreciate hearing from an actual resident. Good points about being walkable and close to a green space. I guess what you suffer from is being there early, which in any new area is never great because a area needs time to mature.

We took our kids to COP this weekend for the first time, and I didn't quite realize how close to the hill these new condos are. If you squint your eyes just so, it's starting to get a bit of a mountain resort vibe which is neat...although kind of a cheap low-rent version. It could've been considerably nicer if they leaned more into the mountain resort design aesthetic (ie the Canmore/Banff look). Instead they kind of lean into the "big box, inspired by colors of dust and winter road slush" aesthetic.

Paskapoo is definitely underrated, I just hope the city doesn't pave pathways in there, that's my favourite MTB spot in the whole city!
Some sort of paved connection should be possible without affecting MTB. I wonder if it would be possible to connect 85 St and Piita Rise for active mode+bus only. It's probably too steep for busses to be reliable in all weather, but if the Cougar Ridge shuttle could end with a couple stops in Trinity it might be a nifty connection.

At this point I wonder if there is even much downside to just connecting those roads fully...it probably wouldn't be much of a 'shortcut' for many people compared to Stoney

The next apartment DP has been submitted, no drawings up on DMAP though. Likely between the wo buildings under construction and the trans canada highway:

And while the DMap link doesn't have drawings up, it looks like Trinity Group has updated the community brochure, which shows some of the details of the apartment buildings, the future Bluebird Storage facility, and what looks like to still be 4-5 towers planned at other sites in the area:

Zoom in on the area that the latest DP is in, here is the community plan:

Wonder if they'll ever get around to connecting 85 St & Piita Rise to connect the West District/Cougar Ridge community to all of this.

Pretty much no chance. It'll be too steep to drive on for most of the year unless they either cut across the slope like Sarcee or a massive cut through like Stoney.
