Land Use Redesignation application for 48-70 Mission Rd SW. 7-8 storeys and 197 units. It's interesting how much new development has been happening in that stretch of Mission Rd near MacLeod. Not my top pick for places to live.
I don't think they have updated figures internally, because they killed the municipal census in 2020, so federal 2021 is the best they have.A basic start would be to use population estimates based on last census + approved developments. On the backgrounder to all the development proposals, they still reference each communities population by the 2021 census. I'm not sure if they use more updated figures internally, but when they compare and score projects, they should be taking into account all the approved developments.
City sold the land on the corner just west of there too. I lived in the area a few years ago it is in a good spot in the sense your money goes a bit further than in Mission but you can still walk to Mission AND the Breweries across Macleod. Whether the city wants it to or not this section of Macleod will turn into a curb cut nightmare of a main street.Land Use Redesignation application for 48-70 Mission Rd SW. 7-8 storeys and 197 units. The brutalist Enmax thing?City sold the land on the corner just west of there too.
I remember high rise proposals for that site from the mid 90'sOnly been waiting for something to go there for 15 years... lol
It is indeed brick! Agree re: CRUs - I wonder if the two later buildings might incorporate some retail? They might be waiting until they have more doors in the overall development to allow the retail a better chance at success.Assuming (hoping) that facade is brick, consider me a fan.
Having said that, this is the type of building and location that would be perfect if each building had a cornershop integrated. Don't need to line it with CRU's...just one per corner for something like a bodega/coffeeshop/pub.
Lots of cyclists and pedestrians use it. Let's close the road and put in a playground.happy if this land gets developed but they need to figure out a fix for that intersection
The city did a study for that intersection years ago, did it just die in purgatory like so many other studies they do an we pay for?happy if this land gets developed but they need to figure out a fix for that intersection
