General Construction Updates

Forgive my ignorance - do we typically build big warehouses our of concrete? If not a usual, practice why would someone want to do that this time?

I've worked in the SE industrial parks for 15 years and don't recall seeing a structure of this magnitude (it goes the entire block length along 52nd) built with this size of prefab concrete. Usually you see all the steel go up first. Even the Amazon warehouses north of here were all steel framed. That's why I posted this. It's so big I can't even capture all of it.

I haven't been to that area in a while- so I wouldn't really know to be honest. Last I did was going to Twisted Element w/ friends a couple years back.

I was just going over screenshots and Street View- which was dated to June 2024
It has just happened. They're currently grading the land to make it a parking lot for the meantime.

So then there's another affordable development going into Erlton, where oh where...
108 Mission Road SW. Interesting...

Walkable to 39th Ave Station, wow we're actually organically getting TOD. Macleod is going to be remade piece by piece isn't it? Then the City will look at it and think we should've proactively redone it.
It would probably go faster (and the results would be better) if we would hurry up and to a total rebuild of the entire road from Anderson to downtown. The alternative is to let all this development happen and then like 15 years later realize "wow why are so many pedestrians dying on Macleod all of a sudden and no one wants to go outside?"

sorry guys, in the news they indicate the exact address of the 5 lands, thanks a lot everyones' participation
The other locations with my assumptions on the land (as well as the Mission Rd site above and the Boro Block site)

Mission Bridge
Completely rebuilding the bridge structure. We're pretty good at bridge infrastructure renewal. 4th Ave Flyover has been tough on commuters but my brother has been on that project and they've been working hard.
This is great for this section of downtown. So many conversions in the area, happy more people will be able to take advantage of this.

The last River Run condo building burned down last night. What is it with abandoned buildings that are about to be demoed burning down lately?

It was being actively demolished yesterday afternoon, I highly doubt anyone was squatting in it. Something probably sparked up from the demo work.
