Calgary International Airport

That’s interesting. So I assume the single security checkpoint will be quite a bit larger? Is it going to be on the air Canada side or WJ

I’m referring to the check in area, the terminal when you walk in from outside. There is an entire section that is just empty, white walls basically with nothing. I would think they’d make it more inviting or do something else rather than give it an abandoned look. Actually maybe this is all part of the domestic renovations announced a couple of years ago? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calg...nding-domestic-terminal-renovations-1.4704482
With AC almost completely abandoning YYC I would think their area could be condensed and moved closer to WS. Unfortunately they used to be a different ends of the concourse. No one end will be empty. It is what is. I’d rather have an open empty place than one with lines everywhere and not able to move

8.5 million PAX in the first 6 months. Not bad at all, edging close to 2019 numbers. Interesting trend in relationship between YEG and YYC.
YEG for the first 6 months is 3.2 million. Down from being about half the traffic of yyc in 2019 to now closer to 1/3 the traffic!

The writing on the wall tells me that yyc’s growth will probably impact yeg even more as time goes on. As long as WS and AC continue on the path they are going in the region, yyc will be the main hub of the prairies and a lot of interior BC.

July passenger numbers are out. YYC just narrowly missed an 2 million passenger month, nonetheless it projects 17.5 million for 2023 now, but a strong fall and winter could put us closer to our record of 17.9 👀.

July 2023 passenger numbers:
Domestic: 1,355,286 +15% [2019: 1,284,446]
Trasnborder: 382,788 +48% [2019: 331,920]
International: 198,014 +67% [2019: 162,625]

July total: 1,936,088 +25% [2019: 1,778,991]
2023 total so far: 10,427,434 +37%

International and Transborder are up compared to 2019.

YYC needs 7.57M over the next 5 months and looks to be doable if this year's trend keeps up. In 2019 the first 4 months had higher numbers in all three categories (domestic, trans border, intl) but 2023 has owned the months following April in all categories. If I were a betting man I would put money on 2023 beating 2019's numbers.

It’s definitely a possibility, our projected total for 2023 has been rising every month, and we’re setting record monthly numbers now.

It would be cool to see august touch 2 million.
August will be interesting, if it doesn’t touch 2M it’s going to be close.
The trend I’m really enjoying is seeing all three categories on the rise.
