Imagine if this was built in the East Village or on that giant parking lot as you enter downtown from the 10th st. bridge in kensington.

Any tower that has a good 'ol baseboard heating and cooling, with around 12 inches to spare to the property line, and hopefully 9+ foot ceilings can do something similar. If in a highly shadowed site, what you loose in needing to heat, you gain in reduced solar gain. A tower retrofitted in downtown, connected to district heating, I bet you can hit a similar energy savings, 80-95%, depending on your baseline.

I love this redesign. It's absolutely stunning. However I'd be remiss if I didn't make the joke (and maybe some has already) that in some views with the windows open, it looks like a giant cheese grater.

I'm actually taken back from how well this renovation has turned out. It looks mint AF, and is so photogenetic. It give the UCalgary campus an iconic looking building that demands attention. I'd say it's the first building outside of the downtown core that does that.
