The new design is ?

I've heard the same thing. A clear departure from the past architecture.... supposedly something similar to a Rogers Arena modern type look but with copperish tones.

Hoping for lots of glass, maybe some exposed wood, and the copper sounds sweet! Make it pedestrian friendly!

I'm curious what is behind those windows? Office space or do they bring natural light into the convention hall?

My guess is that the offices in the old Stampede Headquarters are moving into this new addition. The Stampede Headquarters currently sit where the Event Centre Plaza is planned to be built.

When are the plans for the new addition going to be released? Would be a nice distraction during this Covid crisis.

I think releasing it would just lead to a bunch of hot takes saying tourism and conventions will never come back.

The DP is probably going to be applied for soon, which will correspond with a media release, since once the DP is in, the public can go take a look at the plans at City Hall. Probably in the next week or two is my guess.

I haven't seen the new design yet, but have heard it's really well done. Supposedly very modern with an advanced lighting feature.

You'll want to keep an eye on the 17th Avenue LRT Station as well, its redevelopment is going to be interesting alongside the convention centre.

Did an old cowboy tell you this or someone with more of a cool, hip architect vibe? I ask because "really well done" in the Stampede grounds has meant a wide range of things over the years to different people : )
