In contrast with our last construction update, work on Avi Urban's Duke at Mission has significantly advanced through to the final stages of construction, as crews focus on interior finishing to meet anticipated summer 2017 occupancy. Located in the neighbourhood's Cathedral district, the building's 51 loft apartment-style condominiums feature one-, one-plus-den, and two-bedroom floor plans across the four-storey volume of the building.

The building's W-shaped massing is externally outfitted with a series of quirky architectural embellishments, including porthole-style windows on colourful ground-level doors that are flanked by stained wood siding. Layered James Hardie fiber cement siding comprises most of the exterior expression of the projecting modules, while the recessed walls are finished in grey acrylic stucco. Brick accents infused with the more contemporary dressings aim to recall the character of the neighbourhood. Oversized aluminum clad vinyl windows bring in plenty of light for residents, who will also enjoy their own outdoor living spaces.

By the end of April, the ceiling textures were complete on the first two floors, with the walls primed and cabinets already installed. While the interiors are hidden from public view, photos from our Forum show the exterior cladding substantially complete. With the first round of occupancy just weeks away, expect the landscaping program to begin coming to life soon.
