In the seven months since our last update, progress has been moving along at the site of The Concord. The 17- and 14-storey twin-tower condo project built by Concord Pacific and designed by Arthur Erickson and Nick Milkovich Architects has now almost reached grade.

Soon to rise above grade, the 32,500-square-metre residential project will eventually become home to 218 units. The project is only the latest in a series of recent additions to the Eau Claire waterfront district.

As evidenced in the latest round of photos from the build site, it will not be long until the project reaches grade. The west tower will go up first, followed by the east tower.

In the months to come, the full effect of the twin-tower development on the neighbourhood will be felt. The scope of the project will dramatically alter the local streetscape and waterfront district, as more and more projects of this size continue to appear in the area.

Once complete, the luxury project will add a great deal of architectural interest to the downtown waterfront. The penthouse suite will reportedly be listed for a whopping $13 million, thus setting a high bar for local real estate. A landmark project for downtown Calgary, The Concord represents the changing face of the city, of a metropolitan centre that is in the midst of one of the most dramatic urban transformations in recent memory.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
