I don't buy it. It's not worth digging the deepest hole in the city and putting empty offices on top just to cap it before the residential and prominence that gives the building its value.


They are just industry rumours and they do persist because of the sound reasoning to cap it. The office is spoken for no matter how much Telus probably would like to get out of it (their minority ownership in the development notwithstanding) The residential is purely speculative in a market with diminishing demand for executive suites. They'll be a very difficult sell even as luxury, long term apartments. What no one knows is how much Westbank has already sunk into building the apartments and if having them sit with high vacancy for an unknown term (things will recover eventually) is of great consequence to them.

All I was saying is that we haven't reached the point where we can put the rumours to bed.
