In our last check up on the new Calgary Cancer Centre back in October, 2019 cladding installation was commencing, with a few pieces of glass paneling having been installed on the east side of the project. Work on the building was in around the 7 floor mark, and the building was taking shape.

Since the at time the building has grown vertically from 7 to 10 floors, but the exterior cladding work had not changed much; that is until recently. New panels of beige ceramic tiles have recently been installed on the east side of the building. The ceramic tile panels will make up a large part of the lower 4 floors of the complex.

Designed by Stantec and Dialog, the 12 story project has been under construction since late 2017, with the $1.4 Billion dollar facility expecting to be ready for service to the public in 2023. The new complex will increase southern Alberta's cancer care capacity by concentrating and expanding the services that already exist in the city, closing the gap between limited supply and the growing demand for more dedicated space. The interior will be filled with more than 100 patient exam rooms, 160 inpatient unit beds, over 100 chemotherapy chairs, 12 radiation vaults, outpatient cancer clinics, and a number of laboratories.
