About two months ago we reported on the imminent start to the second tower in the three tower West Village Towers development. At the time crews were preparing for the start of the tower's construction while Cidex Group, the project's developer was waiting on some permit processes to finish up while waiting for the green light to go ahead with construction.

After that point, progress was slow as the Christmas break arrived, followed by some unseasonably cold weather in early January. Over the last three weeks however, the second tower has begun to rise rapidly, and is humming along at a good pace. Recent photos show the second tower is added three floors since they began work on it in late December, but if you take away a Christmas break and a week long cold snap they are progressing at close to a floor a week. We should see significant progress over the coming weeks.

Designed by Yahya Jan out of NORR's Dubai office, the three tower complex will contain almost 600 units, with the tallest of the towers rising 41 floors on the southwest corner of the project. Ideally located in downtown Calgary's west end, all units will be purpose built rental, a market that has seen tremendous growth in Calgary over the past few years.
