Calgary's Mission area, is about to get a new neighbour. The Block on 4th, by Calgary based InDevelopments is set to become Mission's newest addition as the recently proposed project is now well under construction.

Recent photos show construction at the site is already at the excavation stage, having already completed the pile installation process.

Designed by the InDevelopments design team, the 5 storey project was proposed a while back, with new renderings surfacing at Skyrisecities in August of 2019. In October of 2019 construction began appearing at the site, and since that time the pace has been steady, with drilling and pile installation already completed. As it stands the project is a mixed use development with 39 residential rental units and retail at grade.

One of the most interesting aspects of The Block on 4th will be its construction process. The building will be constructed using modular building technology. Though it's not the first time this method has been used in Calgary - The ALT Hotel in East Village was built using modular construction - the process is still very new, and most Calgarians aren't familiar with it. Passersby will no doubt stop and watch when the modules are being added.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
