It's been almost 2 months since we last checked up on Groupe Germain's new ALT Hotel project in University District. Back in early December the construction had just commenced on the new 156 room hotel, shortly after the installation of a tower crane. Since that time there has been a Christmas holiday break and a nasty week long cold snap, but it hasn't slowed down its progress.

Recent photos show the construction crews are now working on the structure's third level. The hotel, set to rise up to 15 storeys is situated right next to Avi Urban's 6 story development, August at University District. The two buildings will share a common underground parkade, but will be separate structures above ground.

The new Alt Hotel is part of a group of exciting new projects under construction along University Avenue. Aside from August, and the new Alt Hotel, there is also Rhapsody, and Block 23. Avi Urban also has another proposal, Argyle, slated for University Avenue. All of the developments with the exception of the Alt Hotel will incorporate retail at grade, promising to make University Avenue a busy location.
