It's been over a year since the ground breaking ceremony of The Dorian, PBA Lands and Development's proposed 28 storey hotel in downtown Calgary, and after a year long wait, the project is now a go. Last week a construction crew arrived to remove this asphalt from the empty lot, and succeeded by another crew dropping off a drilling rig as construction begins on the new building.

Developed by PBA, in conjunction with Marriott, the 28 storey, 304 unit hotel tower had its ground breaking ceremony in June of 2018 and was expected to begin construction shortly after in mid July that year, but the development was was halted. There were some minor changes to the design such as a reduction in the number of parking stalls and a development permit had to be re-submitted. The permit was approved again, and now work has begun.

The Gibbs Gage designed building will feature retail on the ground level, as well as a rooftop restaurant which includes a south facing terrace. Another added bonus is that The Dorian will feature art created by local artists, photographers, sculptors and musicians – including digital art by artists active on social channels.
