When we last checked up on Opus' South Bank development back in June, the building had recently topped out and exterior cladding was in its initial stages. Glass had been installed, and installation of some Alpolic aluminum panels had just begun.

Progress has been slow but steady, but two months later a good portion of the cladding has been added, with sections of brick, aluminum paneling, and Tyndall stone having been installed. Scaffolding, which has covered the bulk of the building's facade, has been slowly disappearing, and now one can get a good look at the building's progress.

Designed by Kasian, the mixed-use building will feature 69 residential units, and over 12,000 sq.ft. of retail, adding to Inglewood's bustling 9 Ave SE corridor. The design is stylish and modern, incorporating contemporary materials such as metallic aluminum panels, while the brick and Tyndall stone represent a nod to the historic textures of the neighborhood.

South Bank will no doubt be a popular location for both residential and retail. For residents, the project is a stone's throw away from Calgary's burgeoning River pathway recreational area, and as for retail, it's right on the 9th Ave strip. A structure with diverse style and architecture like South Bank will also easily fit into the neighborhood, as many say Inglewood is Calgary's most architecturally diverse district.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
