Part of the ongoing growth spurt now underway in Marda Loop, RNDSQR's Courtyard 33 is no exception. When we last checked in on the project back in February, the site had yet to be cleared of a row of mid-century homes, its status today that of an active build site.

With heavy machinery and building materials recently arrived, it appears that it will not be long now before excavation begins. To this end, the 6-storey, 70-unit, Courtyard 33 will be home to upwards of 100 new residents, who will soon call the neighbourhood home.

Designed by 5468796 Architecture, Courtyard 33 will rise at the corner of 33 Ave SW and 22 St SW, thereby bringing a great deal of pedestrian and urban vibrancy to the 33rd Avenue corridor. The angular, multi-volume facade will sit atop a single level of ground floor retail, with frontage onto 33 Ave SW.

To be configured as a two-part structure, Courtyard 33, as the name implies, will also feature an inner courtyard. Accessed at the structure's approximate midpoint via a small staircase, and covered over by dual pedestrian causeways, the courtyard will create a welcome outdoor space for residents and their guests.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
