Six weeks since we last checked in at 500 Block, and progress has been moving along at a solid clip. The 35-storey tower now stands roughly a dozen storeys above the attached mid-rise block, with 15 floors to go before topping off.

As for the 7-storey mid-rise block and podium, cladding has progressed dramatically, its glazing work now complete, the exterior decorative paneling soon to come. Altogether, the high-density, 463-unit 500 Block will eventually be home to upwards of 600 residents.

Designed by Kirkor and Solomon Cordwell Buenz for Hines, 500 Block will stand tall at the corner of 4 St SW and 12 Ave SW - just steps away from Central Memorial Park, Beltline, East Village, and the core. Equidistant thus to several of the central city's premiere neighbourhoods, 500 Block will be a prime address for urban professionals and young families looking to tap into the best the city has to offer.

Viewed above in its broader urban context, 500 Block will be joining several other similar-sized projects, the area between Beltline, East Village, and the core now very much in the process of filling in. Once complete, 500 Block will be a fine addition to the city centre.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
