It's been two months since we last wrote about Rhapsody, Gracorp's mixed use project in Calgary's University District. The 6-storey building was midway to its final height with work well underway on the 4th floor. Recent photos show that the west side of the building complex has now topped out. Among other notes of progress is the commencement of construction on the residential units to the east side of the building.

Designed by NORR, construction started a year and half ago in March of 2018, and while at times progress has seemed slow, it has been progressing at a decent pace given its deceivingly large footprint. With the east side portion topped out and windows installed, the next noticeable change will be the installation of the exterior materials.

The 288-unit residential building will front along University Avenue, its lower portion to include The University District's first grocery store. Save-On Foods will be the anchor retail tenant situated in the northwest corner of the building at University Avenue and West Campus Drive.

Once complete, Rhapsody will bring harmony to The University District, the orchestrated blend of retail and residential sure to hit all the right notes.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database files and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
