Four months since our last update, and progress upon the podium-level cladding at The Hat has moved along significantly. Brown and black collage of spandrel panelling has been installed along two sides of the base, giving the podium a chunky, colour-blocked look.

The base of Cidex Group's NORR Architects-designed, 28-storey, 228-unit, high-rise will be home to three storeys' worth of mixed-use space, including the main entranceway, lobby, and a children's play area. Notably lacking in a ground floor retail space, The Hat's podium base will somewhat make up for this via the landscaping that will grace the bottom of the structure.

Located at the corner of 5 St SE and 7 Ave SW in East Village, The Hat will bring some much-needed rental property to the neighbourhood. Once fully occupied, the 300-resident The Hat will deliver a great deal of urban vibrancy and foot traffic to East Village.

Once complete, The Hat's base will feature a three-tone aesthetic, its white, brown, and black spandrel cladding to grace the entirety of the podium.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
