A month since our last update, and progress at RNDSQR's Beacon development appears to have slowed as the custom roof trusses continue to be installed. Likely owing to the unique nature of the structure's signature, upturned roof-line, progress upon the installation of the prefabricated trusses has been moving slowly, but steadily, the project's shape evolving gradually over time.

The 5468796 Architecture-designed Beacon will eventually become a two-storey commercial building with a focus upon the medical industry. Located at 3110 17 Ave SW in Shaganappi, Beacon will be situated close to several other businesses, and will be in close proximity to Shaganappi Park, the Killarney Aquatic & Rec Centre, and the Westbrook Mall.

Viewed in the cross-section rendering above, Beacon's distinctive design will allow for ample indoor light, which in turn will provide the illusion of extra interior space. Below grade, two levels of parking will allow the structure to retain a tight urban footprint.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
