Two months since our last update, and glazing work at RioCan's Arris 5th and Third in East Village has been progressing at a rapid pace. Glass now covers the majority of the future retail and common spaces along the entirety of the podium base, while work upon other details has continued apace.
The mixed-use, 41- and 24-storey condo-and-retail development designed by Amanat Architect, Embassy Bosa, and Gibbs Gage Architects, will house a total of 500 units perched above 180,000 sq. ft. of retail at grade. Located, fittingly, at the corner of 5th and 3rd in East Village, the two-tower behemoth will bring a great deal of height, density, and retail services to the neighbourhood.
Set to include a Loblaws City Market and a Shoppers Drug Mart, Arris 5th and Third will bring two major retail staples to the community in the form of a large grocery store and a pharmacy. The future home as well for more than 800 residents, the project will additionally provide a significant injection of pedestrian activity to East Village.
Once complete, Arris 5th and Third will be a fine addition to the neighbourhood, part of East Village's ongoing rapid growth and development.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
