Just a few weeks since our last update, and the finishing touches now underway at Strategic Group's Marda development in South Calgary have been progressing nicely. The last of the decorative spandrel paneling and other final touches are now being installed, it to not be long now before the project reaches completion.
The 6-storey, 100-unit, mixed-use, residential development designed by NORR Architects features a mix of cladding materials ranging from glass, to spandrel, to wood. This soft, naturalistic palette has served the structure well, its white, grey, black, and wood-tone colour scheme pleasing to the eye.
Down at ground level, progress upon the retail base has been moving ahead steadily, the bottom of the development to be host to a row of cafes and boutiques. Situated close to the busy 33 Ave SW corridor, Marda will likely attract a fair amount of pedestrian traffic, the inclusion of a generous retail space to suit the area well.
Around to the rear, the use of Hardy panels can be seen, these to be found at the back and sides of the structure, while aluminum has been reserved for the front. Once complete, Marda will be a fine addition to the neighbourhood, South Calgary in the midst of a major building boom.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
