Certus Developments' Spider Site in southwest Calgary is starting to take shape, and we are now seeing glimpses of what the building will look like as the exterior materials are being installed. Construction started on the 4-storey mixed-use project a little over a year ago, and has gone relatively quickly and smoothly, with the project reaching grade back in October, 2018.

Insulation panels were installed as of our last update, and now we can see that a substantial amount of brick-work has been completed on the south side of the building with more underway along the east side.

The renderings of the McKinley Burkart-designed building show light grey colored material, but the final product is a chocolate brown coloured brick. Whether the bricks remain that color remains to be seen.

With the warm weather seasons upon us, we should see the brick-work installation go at a good pace, and soon the scaffolding will be removed revealing the overall look of the facade.

The Spider Site has come a long way in just a matter of months, the topped off project providing observers with a solid glimpse of what the future has in store.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
