Work has recently begun on Dominion, one of Calgary's most exciting new residential projects. A two tower, 150-unit residential project developed by Bucci Developments, and located in Calgary's Bridgeland district, will be the newest addition to a burgeoning neighborhood that has seen many new developments over the past few years.
Most of the new development in Bridgeland has been on parcels of land tied to The Bridges, a 37 acre master plan for redevelopment of the former General Hospital lands. Phase I of The Bridges was completed a few years ago, while Phase II is ongoing, and includes projects such as Bridgeland Crossings, McPherson Place, Steps Bridgeland, and Radius, a recently completed Bucci project that sits just north of the Dominion site.
The project has been popular with architecture and development followers for many reasons, including it being the tallest project in The Bridges to date, and for the retail at grade that will front onto 9th Street. The biggest draw, however, is its simple and modern-yet-elegant design.
Designed by Urban Agency's innovative Lyon office, Dominion's is a style not typically seen with other recent residential projects, and as such stands out from the crowd. Yet another interesting feature of the development's aesthetic will be its external metallic cladding, designed to mirror the colors of the sky, thereby changing the structure's appearance day-to-day.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below
