Three months since our last update, and progress at the West Village Towers three-tower development has been moving along well. Set to go up in stages, Phase One is now well underway as the tallest of the three structures has now risen well beyond its halfway point.

Well-situated within the heart of the Downtown West End, at the confluence of 11 St SW and 9 Ave SW, the 554-unit development will soon become home to upwards of 800 new residents. Close to transit via the West Kerby CTrain station, as well as several local shopping and dining options, to say nothing of its proximity to Shaw Millennium Park and the banks of the Bow River, West Village Towers will be a prime address.

The eventual full-block build-out of the project will see the rise of three "identical" towers, to be set at 150, 125, and 100 metres apiece. Each tower will be placed upon a shared podium with retail frontage along each side, thereby offering a great amount of local pedestrian traffic and added urban vibrancy.

For its part, the base of the project will meet the street with a large concrete plaza and terrace, thereby serving to further animate the development's public realm component. Once complete, West Village Towers will be a fine addition to the Downtown West End, the neighbourhood now deep into an urban transformation of its own.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
