Following the much-discussed opening of the Canadian Tire store at the base of The Royal, work has continued to progress on the tower itself since the time of our last update. Located at the corner of 8 St SW and 16 Ave SW in the heart of the Beltline, the 34-storey, 223-unit condo high-rise is on target to welcome upwards of 300 new residents into the area.

Designed by Abugov Kaspar for Embassy Bosa and First Capital Reality, The Royal features a mix of grey and beige spandrel cladding. Balconies abound, with outdoor space available for residents and their guests.

Moving to the bottom of the tower, the future home of an Urban Fare grocery store and market can be clearly made out. Inside, the cavernous expanses of the store can be appreciated, the commercial addition to be a major boon to both residents and neighbourhood locals alike.

Well-situated within the heart of the eclectic Beltline, The Royal will be a popular address for those looking to be in the heart of one of Calgary's favourite neighbourhoods. Once complete, The Royal will be a fine addition to the area, its Urban Fare and Canadian Tire additions likely to be full of customers in no time.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
