A month since our last update, and progress at the site of the long-anticipated One Tower has been moving steadily along. The 37-storey, mixed-use development has now reached at least a floor above grade, its broad, multi-storey podium to take up commanding presence at the corner of 1 St SE and 10 Ave SE.
The 122-metre, 331,000 sq-ft development by Strategic Group will be comprised of a mix of 379 residential rental units, commercial space, and street-level retail. Located just south of the core between downtown, Beltline, East Village, and Victoria Park, One Tower is well-situated for those looking to live in the heart of the action.
One Tower will also place its upwards of 600 residents within easy walking distance to the Centre Street CTrain station, located only a few blocks north. Attractions such as Studio Bell and the New Central Library will be easily accessible as well.
The completed tower will be faced almost completely in glass, with balconies for most units. The addition of a large strip of ground floor retail will add a great deal of pedestrian vibrancy to the area, one which was long known as a surface lot.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
