Two weeks since our last update, and progress at the site of M2 Block in East Village has been moving along nicely. The 4-storey mixed-use project by XYC Design + Development and nArchitects has now risen past its halfway point, today standing between two and three storeys above grade.

M2 Block will consist of a ground floor of street-facing retail, above which two levels (25,000 sq.ft) of office space will be capped by a solitary, fourth floor, 2,000 sq.ft. penthouse suite. Each of the subsequent floors will be placed one atop one another in an asymmetrical, layer cake arrangement - leaving adequate space above floors 1-3 for generous rooftop patios overlooking the Bow River.

Located along the Bow River at the eastern edge of East Village, M2 Block fills a void in the neighbourhood, its mixed-use configuration to serve the area well. The completed M2 Block will be a fine addition, the development to significantly boost East Village's pedestrian connection to the riverfront.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
