Two months since our last update, and progress at the site of Strategic Group's Marda has been moving steadily along. Located in South Calgary/Marda Loop, the aptly named 6-storey mid-rise development will soon top off, its rapid rise owing to its timber-frame construction.

Marda will be comprised of five stories of residential space, containing 66 units, which will be placed atop a 9,000 square-foot, ground-level retail component, including a cafe. The project will represent an influx of at least 100 new residents to the corner of 20 St SW and 34 Ave SW, just a block south of the bustling 33 Ave SW corridor.

The NORR Architects-designed development will be covered predominantly in a mix of white and grey spandrel, with wood and glass accents. A large M-A-R-D-A logo will emblazon the structure, thereby adding a not-so-subtle marketing touch to the project. The completed development will be a fine addition to the area, the busy corridor to benefit from the increased foot traffic, the new residents to enjoy a slice of urban living from outside of the core.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
