Coming soon to the southwest corner of 4 St NE and 16 Ave NE in Balmoral, the 6-storey, 36-unit mixed-use residential mid-rise known as Harmony One will soon bring a modest amount of density to the neighbourhood. Set to replace the long-vacant former site of 16th Ave Auto, the development will also serve to enhance the immediate pedestrian character of the intersection via the introduction of a strip of ground floor retail.

Designed by Gravity Architecture for JANL, the structure will be faced in a mix of smooth, multi-toned, stone cladding, mixed with brick and timber accents. Brick will face the ground floor retail level, while timber ceilings and walls will be featured respectively on the balconies and top floor outdoor terrace.

To be situated a rather barren strip of green fields and tired strip mall plazas, Harmony One will need to truly stand out in order to thrive. Far from light rail transit and in located in the midst of a largely suburban area, Harmony One will likely cater to those looking for a bargain just outside of the city centre.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
