With less than 100 days to go until the widely anticipated grand opening of the New Central Library, we have decided to take yet another virtual tour of the ever-photogenic structure now nearing completion in East Village. Set for its debut on November 1, 2018, Calgarians of all stripes are excited to check out the new library - and books, of course - once the building is up and running in just three month's time.

Built at a cost of $245 million, the public institution as designed by Snøhetta will be a state of the art facility, equipped with a performance space, study rooms, reading areas, and a great deal of fully accessible meeting rooms and public space.
Built overtop an LRT tunnel, the New Central Library will be within easy walking distance to nearby City Hall Station - the regular rumble of LRV's passing underneath to be of little concern for readers up above. Designed with the LRT tunnel in mind, all vibrations and noise associated with the tunnel will be cancelled out far before it has a chance to catch the ire of readers and librarians alike.
