A month since our last update, and progress at the future site of 500 Block by Hines has been making steady progress. Then a working excavation site, the recent closing of the site and appearance of the crane base has given rise to speculation that the 35- and 7-storey two-tower project by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and Kirkor Architects Planners will soon be making its ascent.

Located at the corner of 4 St SW and 12 Ave SW, both the 35- and 7-storey storey residential blocks will place residents within easy walking distance to Central Memorial Park, downtown, and the Beltline.

Viewed in the aerial shot above, 500 Block's urban context can be best appreciated, the proximity to Central Memorial Park (also pictured) to be a major selling feature for this well-situated development.

Ground-floor retail will round out the base of the project with frontage along both sides of the base of each of the interconnected structures, while the lower structure's rooftop will double as an outdoor pool deck and terrace.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
