Today's Throwback Thursday feature captures the final days for Holy Martyr Peter Orthodox Church and an adjacent mid-century bungalow which once occupied the future site of Avenue 33 - currently nearing completion in South Calgary. Designed by FAAS Architecture for Sarina Homes, the 5-storey, 36-unit, Avenue 33 will bring a significant amount of density to this traditionally low-density residential neighbourhood.

Following the demolition of the aforementioned church and its secular neighbour, construction at the site of Avenue 33 has been swift, the project today topped off almost fully clad.

Featuring 9-foot ceilings, and flexible floor plans, the new development is more than certainly a sign of more changes to come for South Calgary, as the city continues its urban transformation.
