Three months since our last full feature, and progress at the site of the nArchitects and XYC Design + Development-designed M2 in East Village has begun, an event celebrated on our Forum with a triumphant image from the day of the first cement pour.

Little more than a dirt-lined excavation pit only a a few short weeks ago, the commencement of construction has brought a new dimension to the site, this to be the first of many updates to come as Calgarians embrace the latest, and in some way, one of the most exciting additions to the East Village.

Located along the banks of the Bow River at the eastern edge of East Village, the distinctly angular, 4-storey, 25,000 square-foot mixed-use structure will soon make its signature, zig-zagging silhouette a key piece of the local streetscape.

To be host to two ground-floor restaurants, complete with outdoor terraces, the middle two floors will become the daytime home to dozens of office workers, while the top level will be reserved for residential, to be the permanent address of a 2,000 square-foot rooftop penthouse unit.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
