Two months since our last update, and progress at the site of PLOT. development group's MoDA-designed SWITCH|bloc has been moving along swiftly, the 4-storey residential development having recently topped off with glazing work now well underway.

Located in Lower Mount Royal, just south of the bustling 17 Ave SW corridor, the aptly-named WITCH|bloc has been designed with an innovative, space-maximizing, "switchback" design that will allow for a mix of one-and-two-storey suites among its total count of 19 units.

Offering a more traditional, family-friendly layout, the two-storey units will place sleeping quarters above the living room and kitchen, thereby ensuring that a family with small children can all get along amicably within a condo-sized space.

Slated for completion by the end of 2018, it will not be long now before cladding work really starts to get rolling, the structure's timber-frame skeleton to be covered over in cedar shake, representative of the neighbourhood's historic roots.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this story as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
