Four months since our last update, and progress at the site of Cidex Group's The Hat has been moving along nicely, the first glimpses of cladding now appearing upon the lower levels of the tower just above the podium.

Located in the heart of the rapidly rising East Village at 5 St SE and 7 Ave SE, the NORR Architects-designed 28-storey, 221-unit rental tower has all but topped out, leaving significant ground to be made up by the cladding and glazing work that has recently begun.

The first of its kind in East Village, the 221-unit rental tower represents a positive development for the area, the inclusion of 32 three-bedroom, family-sized units, in addition to the ground-floor daycare centre, highly encouraging for what the future of the neighbourhood may have in store.

Once complete, The Hat will be a welcome addition to the East Village, the area to benefit from a mix of rental and market units.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
