Today's Throwback Thursday feature captures two dramatically different views from the corner of 6 Ave SE and Confluence Way in East Village looking east towards downtown. Captured long before East Village was a known entity, the contrasting images below provide a stark reminder of how far Calgary has come in only a few short years.

Viewed above from the corner of 6 Ave SE and Confluence Way (which jogs north from 6 St SE), the future site of Alt Hotel was little more than an empty lot back in 2012, East Village's meteoric rise still over the horizon.

Viewed above again from the same vantage point, the presence of the Alt Hotel, along with First and Evolution, have made a massive impact on the local landscape, East Village now a thriving community unto itself.
