Saks Fifth Avenue has officially opened its third Canadian location and first store outside of Toronto. The 115,000-square-foot Saks Calgary spans two levels inside the CF Chinook Centre, with locally sourced artwork in the windows and throughout the store accenting its selection of outwear, luxury handbags, shoes and accessories.

"Our strategy for all stores in North America is to create one-of-a-kind experiences for our clients ― this is what we call 'The New Luxury,'" said Marc Metrick, president, Saks Fifth Avenue. "This is an experience clients cannot get anywhere else and we look forward to joining the Calgary community."

The arrival of Saks Calgary brings a fresh new look to a troubled space formerly home to Zellers and briefly occupied by Target before the brand's pullout from Canada. Saks Fifth Avenue forms part of the Hudson's Bay Company brand portfolio, which partnered with Stantec to devise the contemporary interior. The interior design is defined by an understated palette employing mixed metal fixtures and decorative lighting.

"Saks prides itself in offering the best brands and styles in a curated and distinctive point of view, known as the 'Saks Edit'," said Tracy Margolies, chief merchant, Saks Fifth Avenue. "Saks Calgary boasts a luxury footwear selection as well as exclusive beauty brands such as Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Ex Nihilo and Chantecaille, among others. This distinct edit, coupled with our exceptional services, will establish Saks as the Calgary shopping destination."

Saks' revered shoe salon is located on the first floor adjacent to beauty, apothecary and fragrance stands. On the second floor, a new Italian dining experience by Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality will soon open.
