Battistella Developments has long been associated with having colour incorporated into their developments — both in the formal names of their buildings as well as their various material palettes. Their latest project, INK, is no different.

The 14-floor, 119-unit condominium tower, currently under construction in Calgary's East Village, will feature an exterior skin made up of multiple colours — one on each side of the building in fact. The south side and front of the building will feature a magenta spandrel motif, with the west side hosting crimson red spandrel. The north side will sport orange spandrel, and the east side will be comprised of blue spandrel accents. The spandrel panels arrived a few weeks ago, and installation has been ongoing. We recently dropped by to check out how the overarching vision looks now that all four sides have had some panels installed.

Battistella's buildings and their colours are noticeable in a city known for its share of brown and grey, and INK is proving to be no exception so far. Each distinctive colour stands out — with only a few panels installed, the hues are clearly visible even from a block away (as seen in the pic below).

We will continue to monitor the progress of INK and will revisit the building and its coloured spandrel accents when more of the cladding has been installed.
