Work on The Windsor, Arlington Street's office-turned-condominium project, has now risen above the intersection of Elbow Drive and 50th Avenue SW. What was originally a five-storey commercial building has morphed into a six-storey residential building, a result of Calgary's weak demand for office space, with NORR Architects charged with producing the updated design.

Five floors of one- and two-bedroom luxury rental suites, 104 in total, occupy the bulk of the volume, while an organic grocer is expected to anchor the strip of retail tenants on the ground floor. Atop the building will be an exclusive rooftop patio for residents to wind down and enjoy the view.

After constructing the below-grade parking levels for the previous scheme, The Windsor has begun its ascent above the street. Currently sitting at one floor, it will take time for the varied architectural expression to reveal itself. Renderings show fritted glass balconies protruding from the structure, and a suspended rectangular crown featuring a central void for trees to grow through.
